Luciana Mitzkun is a Senior Consultant specialized in memory care. With a strong passion for patients’ rights, her work encompasses three decades of helping Santa Barbara caregivers develop strategies to support patient care, promote safety, and achieve their overall caregiving goals.
Through her previous work as the family consultant of the Alzheimer’s Association California Central Coast Chapter, Luciana has helped thousands of local families in care-planning and connecting with multiple care disciplines. It was during those years that her friendship and collaboration with HOME CHOICES for Mom and Dad’s founder Larissa Murchison flourished, as Luciana often sought of and counted on Larissa’s knowledge and skills for finding the best care for her clients. The two professionals share the same values in fighting for the best interest of their clients with integrity and careful attention to their individual needs.
Now, as the owner and senior consultant of HOME CHOICES for Mom and Dad, Luciana is deeply committed to giving continuity to Larissa’s tradition of service to our clients.
The writer of numerous published articles on senior care, Luciana also wrote Ahead of Dementia, her popular book bringing awareness of the challenges and difficult decisions that lie ahead for those caring for loved ones with dementia.
Luciana is a California Licensed RCFE Administrator (Lic.# 7023083740) who serves as the Community Services Director of Villa Alamar, a model Memory Care Community. A big supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association, Luciana continuously volunteers as an educator in their programs throughout Santa Barbara County. Luciana is a member of the Santa Barbara Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Prevention Council. She is an avid ocean swimmer and enjoys social dancing with her husband, The Roy.

Tracy Cohn is a Senior Consultant who has dedicated her professional life to social services and to improving the lives of seniors and people with disabilities. In four decades of living and working in the Santa Barbara area, she has served as a Special Education teacher, a therapeutic assistant working with people with traumatic brain injuries, and as the Director of Family Services at the Friendship Center Adult Daycare.
Tracy has volunteered as a board member at Jodi House/The Brain Injury Association of SB, as a speaker and educator for The Alzheimer’s Association of Santa Barbara, and has assisted numerous local non-profits in their fundraising effords.
Tracy and Luciana first met at Jodi House, where Luciana was the Executive Director, and they quickly formed a friendship based on their mutual dedication to individuals and families affected with brain injuries.
Their collaboration continued when Tracy and Luciana worked together at our local day care center for seniors affected with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, the Friendship Center, where they helped develop programs and promote access to community resources.
Now in 2025, nearly 30 years of friendship later, we welcome Tracy to Home Choices for Mom and Dad where we are honored to join forces with her and count with her passion and experience for the benefit of our senior community.
Our professional experience and knowledge of Title 22 Regulations help us in evaluating RCFEs to ensure the safety, the quality of care, and the comfort of our clients.
